Making the new policy a reality means creating new ways to measure and report school performance, building alignment and coherence in the District, engaging stakeholders throughout the process, and guiding them through the transition from SQRP to CIDT.
Goals
- Metric Development: The new policy lays out many new areas of school performance that will provide the District, schools, and all stakeholders with a bevy of holistic information. These new ways of measuring and reporting on school performance need to be mindfully and accessibly developed before the full rollout of CIDT.
- Alignment and Coherence: The District is using CIDT to better align the work of our schools, networks, and Central Office. This will mean increased efficiency and clarity for school leaders and teachers.
- Communication and Transparency: Throughout implementation, the District will communicate our progress and engage our stakeholders to determine the best ways to help them transition to and understand CIDT. This involves developing an interactive online dashboard that our communities can use to get in-depth, holistic information about our schools.
- Change Management: The new policy requires that we shift our mindset on accountability away from punitive measures and towards continuous improvement.
The Work Ahead
To carry out this enormous mission, the District is relying on the aid and expertise of three advisory groups. These groups include an executive committee to oversee implementation and District coherence, a technical committee to validate proposed metrics, and a transparency group to review metrics for accessibility, usability, and actionability. In alignment with our commitment to transparency during this process, meeting materials and notes will be posted below as they become available.
The Executive Committee
The Technical Committee
The Transparency Committee
As part of the implementation phase of CIDT, the Transparency Committee evaluated changes to CPS school profiles to ensure they are accessible and actionable. The committee reviewed and provided feedback on each indicator and metric within the school profiles and labeled them as follows to reflect the current stage of engagement:
- Transparency Committee Not Reviewed Yet: Indicator has not been reviewed by the Transparency Committee.
- Transparency Committee Reviewed: Indicator has been reviewed, and feedback provided.
- Transparency Committee Endorsed: CPS has incorporated the feedback to the Committee’s satisfaction.
