A Message from the Principal

The State of Illinois honored Prescott School as a top 10% school in 2024, 2023, & 2022 (Illinois Exemplary Summative Designation). In 2023, Prescott School earned the Recognized ASCA (American School Counselor Association) Model Program, one of only 31 schools in the state. In 2019, Prescott won the National Blue Ribbon School award from the US Department of Education. Since 2018, Prescott has been one of very few schools to be named a fully Healthy School. Chicago Magazine named Prescott #13 out of over 400 elementary schools in Chicago (September 2019) and #14 in 2016. Prescott School Counselor Marisa Mathews was named the 2024 Illinois School Counselor of the Year. Kindergarten teacher, Lisandra Barajas, earned the Those Who Excel Award, in 2023 from the state of Illinois for excellent teaching. Sixth and seventh grade Reading & Writing Teacher Tayler Showalter won the award in 2024. Third grade teacher, Jennifer Phares, earned one of Illinois’ highest teacher honors, the Golden Apple Award, in 2009. Prescott boasts National Board Certified Teachers (NBCT) including Phares, Swanson, Jasutis, Hazelip, and Roche. Over 75% of Prescott teachers are Apple Teachers: Austria, Hazelip, Stewart, Birnbaum, Vertucci, Phares, Stefan, Jasutis, Swanson, Bradford, Schwabenbauer, Showalter, Lohman, Choi, Edwards, Moran, De La Rosa, Cripe, Muller, Hainsfurther, Giacobbe, Mauricio, Rutkelis, Roche. Prescott School partners with UIC, DePaul University, Knox College, Chicago United Voices, Lutheran Social Services of Illinois, and Prescott Parents (https://prescottparents.com) to provide high-quality learning experiences to students and their families.
