A Message from the Principal

Thorp Scholastic Academy is a national exemplar school recognized by the P21 Foundation, as a school committed to promoting the 21st century skills of communication, collaboration, creativity, critical thinking and caring in learning. Students at Thorp Academy are expected to demonstrate their understanding through a problem solving based method of inquiry and instruction that promotes student agency and authentic learning.

Thorp offers a Mathematics and Science Magnet Program and a comprehensive gifted program. The school has a computer and science lab, as well as a comprehensive music and art program. Our partnerships with institutions of higher learning include: DePaul University, University of Chicago, Illinois Institute of Technology, Wright College, and Northeastern University.
