A Message from the Principal

Talman Elementary School is a PreK through grade 8 school located in Gage Park Community. Talman is committed to working with our parents, family, and community partners in developing a safe, supportive, rigorous learning environment. We are focused on addressing the academic, social, and emotional needs of our students. Vision The Talman Elementary School Vision is to provide a rigorous and supportive academic environment that includes staff, parents, and community members working together to promote academic achievement with the goal of developing life-long learners. We envision a safe, rigorous, and academic school environment that embraces cultural diversity; encourages nurturing mutual respect and student ownership. The Talman community strives to expose students to real life learning experiences through the development of a community of disciplined, successful, and independent learners. Mission The Talman mission is to prepare students for college and career readiness, through rigorous and differentiated planning and instruction aligned to the Common Core State Standards in literacy, mathematics, and all content areas. We recognize that this mission can only be accomplished through fostering strong parent and community partnerships which focus on meeting our students' academic, social, and emotional growth. The Talman Mission is to provide high academic standards through real-life, hands-on experiences. These experiences support the development of reading literacy, higher-order thinking skills, and an appreciation for world and life views that empower all students, including English Language Learners and those with special needs, to be life-long learners. By allowing students to take an active role in their education, we enable them to become constructive, contributing members of society.
