Chicago Public Schools is home to more than 470 elementary schools that offer a wide variety of program options to meet the academic interests and needs of students. Families have the option to either attend programs in their neighborhood or apply to attend any elementary school in the city.
The Application Process is

Summer 2024
- Find CPS schools and programs using multiple search and display options
- Find your neighborhood program using the GoCPS search tool
Apply
Fall 2024
- Create an account in your GoCPS Portal
- Attend Open Houses
- Select and rank programs in the application
- Submit application online or over phone
Results
Spring 2025
- Receive results from the selections process and make decisions on whether to accept or decline your offers
- Join the rolling waitlist and apply if you missed the fall deadline

Tour a School
Touring is a great opportunity to talk with principals, teachers, and other parents to see if a school or program is a good fit for your family. If the school doesn’t have an open house scheduled, call the school directly to make an appointment.
