What We Do
Coordination
Responsible for coordinating the district’s response to all reports of discrimination, harassment, sexual harassment, sexual misconduct and retaliation based on Protected Categories against student and adult Covered Individuals, including assigning investigations, coordinating resources, supportive measures, and alternate remedies to full investigations.
Investigations
Responsible for leading investigations for allegations of discrimination, harassment, sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, and retaliation based on Protected Categories against students, Covered Individuals and any employee misconduct related to those investigations. Also responsible for leading investigations for allegations of physical/verbal abuse, corporal punishment, and other allegations of employee misconduct at the discretion of the Chief Title IX Officer.
Compliance and Training
Responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring effective training and compliance programs that comply with Title VII and Title IX and address the management of related data.

Use the links below to report one of the following allegations, which are prohibited by Title IX and CPS policy:
- sex/gender-based discrimination,
- sex/gender-based harassment,
- sexual misconduct (grooming, inappropriate touching, sexual electronic communication, sexual bullying, sexual exploitation, and exposure/voyeurism/masturbation), or
- retaliation.
This report can also be used to report incidents of
- race, color, or national origin discrimination (Title VI),
- discrimination based on another protected category,
- bias based harm,
- staff to student physical abuse or corporal punishment,
- retaliation,
- sports inequity,
- or academic inequity.
The ASPEN Report should be used by CPS staff to report allegations involving students.
The Report Form should be used by students, parents or guardians, members of the public, and charter school staff who do not have access to ASPEN.

What We Investigate

Discrimination
Treating an individual less favorably because of their actual or perceived membership in one or more of the Protected Categories.

Harassment
Unwelcome verbal, nonverbal, visual, or physical conduct that that is persistent, pervasive, or severe and objectively offensive and unreasonably interferes with, limits, or denies an individual’s educational or employment access, benefits, or opportunities and is based on an individual’s actual or perceived membership in one or more of the Protected Categories.

Sexual Harassment
Conduct on the basis of sex that involves: (1) An employee of the recipient conditioning the provision of an aid, benefit, or service of the recipient on an individual’s participation in unwelcome sexual conduct; and/or (2) Unwelcome conduct, determined by a reasonable person to be so severe, pervasive, and objectively offensive that it effectively denies a person equal access to the educational program or activity; or (3) Sexual assault “dating violence”, and “domestic violence.”

Retaliation
Adverse action or changes to employment, educational program or activity, taken against a Covered Individual for making a complaint or report, aiding, participating, or refusing to participate in an investigation, proceeding or hearing of Discrimination, Harassment, Sexual Harassment or Sexual Misconduct, whether made internally, or externally with a federal, state, or local agency.

Training for Staff
As required by the Final Title IX Rule, all materials used to train Title IX Coordinators, investigators, decision-makers, and any person who facilitates an informal resolution process must be made publicly available on this website.
