Building Effective and Strategic Teams

Effective and Strategic teams that operate at their maximum potential ultimately lead to our schools operating at their maximum potential, which is what our students need and deserve.

Based on the simple, proven model for team development described in Patrick Lencioni’s best-selling book The Five Dysfunctions of a Team, provide leaders with skills to determine the dysfunctions of their teams, treatment plans, and how to build trust in order to make substantial progress toward becoming a more cohesive and functioning team. Patrick Lencioni lists the five dysfunctions as absence of trust, fear of conflict, lack of commitment, avoidance of accountability, and inattention to results. Building an effective team, provides a structure to then focus on strategic planning and results.

Strategic planning encompasses the “Planning and Organization” competency from the RISE rubric for Managers of Managers. Managers of teams will learn how to establish planning processes and systems to be able to create a unified vision, strategy, and goals. This cohort series will guide managers how to collaborate vertically and horizontally and promote rigorous use of data, analysis, and experience to shape a theory of action with inputs, outputs, and goals. Managers will also learn how to plan for the execution of a new strategy, how to communicate a compelling vision and mobilize employees to embrace the change.
