Grading & Proficiency Based Learning
Proficiency-Based Learning is an instructional model that fosters the development of agency, collaboration, adaptability, and leadership by creating learning environments that empower students to co-design their learning path and pace based on their demonstration of proficiency while nurturing their interests and talents.
The implementation of Proficiency-Based Learning is guided by the CPS CBE Framework and the CPS CBE Continuum, which provides scaled, actionable practices teachers and schools can take to grow their implementation in the four domains:
- Integrated Learning Targets and Instructional Practices
- Proficiency-Based Progression
- Equitable Assessment and Demonstrations of Proficiency
- Engaging Learners through the Adaptive Competencies
