CPS System of Facility Assessment
CPS has developed a district wide approach to providing preliminary evaluations of facilities. The established strategy to collect data about buildings helps to provide a uniform, city wide assessment of schools in need of maintenance and repairs by evaluating buildings and comparing them with the other schools in CPS’s inventory. At this stage, the assessors gather information, classify by level of urgency and provide an estimate of the amount of replacement required.
While the assessment data is used to initiate the broad parameters for renovation projects at each school, it is not indicative of a fully conceived detailed scope of work required to execute the project.
Details of CPS’s most recent facility assessments for each school can be found under the downloads section within each schools website: https://cps.edu/Pages/AboutOurSchools.aspx
By searching under the Downloads tab under each school’s name, one can find a number of reports including:
- Facility Assessment Detail Report: The information in this report outlines and ranks the existing conditions of each building system allowing CPS to prioritize needs. Please visit the “CPS Guide to Biennial Facility Assessments” found on the Facilities Standards webpage under CPS Policies and Guidelines at http://www. cps.edu/About_CPS/Policies_and_guide- lines/Pages/facilitystandards.aspx
