1.2.4 Regulatory Information and Permitting Considerations

All Site Projects require the necessary regulatory review specific to each individual project requirements. Securing required permits is a critical part of each project. Each individual project needs to start with a permit application with the City of Chicago Department of Buildings (DOB). The following list of City of Chicago Departments shall be consulted for reviews based on the scope and design of each project, determining the necessary permit requirements contributing to the overall design solution. The permit processes and requirements of the following City Departments shall be reviewed and considered:

  • City of Chicago Department of Planning and Development (DPD)
  • City of Chicago Department of Water Management (DWM) (Sewer Department and Water Department)
  • Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT)
  • City of Chicago Department of Forestry
  • Office of Underground Coordination (OUC)
  • City of Chicago Department of Buildings (DOB)
  • City of Chicago Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities (MOPD)
  • Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRDGC)
  • Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA)
