Planning Rationale
Students studying pathways in Agricultural Sciences learn about the science, business, and technology of plant and animal production.
Each pathway exposes students to classroom and laboratory experiences. In the classroom, students learn concepts and theories dealing with agricultural and agribusiness topics. Classroom learning is followed by the laboratory experiences where students are able to put concepts and theories into practice.
Provide a learning space that allows students to learn about agricultural sciences and how business, medicine, technology and engineering relate to the field.
Agricultural SciencesPathways
Agricultural Applied Biology
Students in Agricultural Applied Biology will learn how fundamental biology is applied to solving problems. In this program students are exposed to the major environmental issues such as sustainable food production and the responsible use of land, water, and animals.
Agricultural Business
Students in the Agricultural Business program will study topics including the environment, business ownership, finance, accounting, record-keeping, production, marketing, personnel, government regulations, planning, and taxation.
Agricultural Mechanics
Students in the Agricultural Mechanics program will learn how to read blueprints, survey land and ensure safe use of tools. Students also get hands-on experience using hand tools, power tools, and computer programs to construct and maintain agricultural systems, and structures.
Animal Science
In the Animal Science program, students will learn to groom, feed, and care for animals. To help enforce the principles of raising and managing livestock, students will care for the animals at school.
Food Science
In the Food Science program, students will learn how to convert raw materials into food and discover the science behind food composition.
Horticultural Science
Students in the Horticultural Science program will develop the knowledge and skills necessary to care for a variety of plants.
Layout
The Horticultural Lab is a combination Classroom/Lab. Walk-in Storage for both dry and refrigerated items is required immediately adjacent to the Classroom/Lab. The full service Horticulture Lab is equipment intensive and requires the input of an Agricultural Consultant as part of the planning process.
