Planning Rationale

Pathways in Media and Communication Arts provide students with the opportunity to learn about the ever-growing array of new media forms.

Students who are interested in applying their artistic talent to practical real-world problems or who want to be a producer, director, journalist, website designer, video game programmer, or multimedia artist can explore their interests and find the right career path for them.

Pathways

Broadcast Technology

Students in the Broadcast Technology pathway learn the fundamentals of working in front of the camera, as well as what goes on behind the scenes. Students write scripts, create public service announcements, design visual materials, participate in local and national competitions, and study broadcasting operations and management.

Digital Media

Students are introduced to the ever growing array of new media forms. Students who are interested in becoming producers, directors, journalists, website designers, and multimedia artists can explore their interests in these pathways.

Layout

The Media Classroom and the Broadcast Technology Lab are organized to encourage group work, utilizing collaboration stations.

The Broadcast Technology Lab contains smaller spaces directly adjacent to the main Classroom that include Video Production, Broadcast Technology and Audio Production.

The Media Classroom/Broadcasting Lab shall have neutral colored walls so walls do not manipulate artwork when hung for critique or are used to record or capture an image. Windows may be provided, but black out shades shall be provided in order to control daylighting.
