8.3.7 Alarm Bells and Fire Department Ties

Type

Trouble Bells are to be under-dome type; with provision for housing the operating mechanism behind the bell. Bells shall produce a sound-pressure level of 94 dBA, measured 10 feet from the bell. 4-inch size, unless otherwise indicated.

Location

To be approved by the Chicago Bureau of Fire Prevention.

Fire Alarm Connection

Make addressable connections with a supervised interface device to the following devices and systems. Install the interface device less than 3 feet from the device controlled. Make an addressable confirmation connection when such feedback is available at the device or system being controlled.

  • Alarm-initiating connection to elevator recall system and components.
  • Alarm-initiating connection to activate emergency lighting control.
  • Supervisory connections at valve supervisory switches.
  • Supervisory connections at fire-pump power failure including a dead-phase or phase-reversal condition.
  • Supervisory connection with Elevator power Shutdown.
  • Supervisory connection with Kitchen Fire-extinguishing system operation.
  • Supervisory connection with Duct Detectors.
  • Supervisory connection with Door Systems.
  • BAS system interconnections.
