Summer Transition Resources for the CPS Class of 2020
21 July 2020
Though the school year has ended, our postsecondary support staff have not stopped working to ensure students have the tools they need to succeed.

The world around us is changing, but students’ postsecondary dreams should not.
The Class of 2020 was the first to complete our Learn.Plan.Succeed. Program: an initiative that requires students to work with their school counselor to create a concrete, postsecondary plan before graduation. Sometimes, however, plans change or need extra support to ensure their success.
Though the school year has ended, our counselors, and postsecondary support staff have not stopped working to ensure students have the tools and services they need to succeed, including:
- reviewing college financial aid award letters
- setting up payment plans for postsecondary institutions
- registering for new student orientation
- signing up for college placement tests
We have also established an Emergency Fund for Transition to College with a $150,000 grant from the Children First Fund to assist members of the Class of 2020 who find themselves in temporary and unexpected financial hardship due to circumstances beyond their control; the fund can be used to help students pay for college registration fees, books, school supplies and transportation.
Students interested in using these services and resources should contact their high school or send an email to LearnPlanSucceed@cps.edu. We want our seniors to graduate with more than a diploma – we want them to graduate with a support system that enables them to shoot for the stars.
