The number of students who live in the Greater Stockyards region has decreased by 2,988 students (14.5%) since 2019-20, which is more than the 9.3% citywide decline. The K-8th grade population has decreased by 18.3% (more than the 12.7% decrease in total CPS K-8th grade student enrollment) and the 9th-12th grade population has decreased by 5.6% (more than the 2.4% decrease in total CPS 9th-12th grade student enrollment).

For the past four years, there has been about the same amount of students enrolled in the region as there are living in the region. K-8 enrollment in the region has decreased by 16.0% and 9-12 enrollment has decreased by 2.1%.

4-Year-Old Enrollment Over Time
In 2022-23, there was a 2.4% increase in enrollment (15 students) of 4-year-olds in full-day Pre-K programs in the Greater Stockyards region. In 2020-21, the district experienced a sharp decline in Pre-K enrollment, consistent with a nationwide decrease in Pre-K enrollment.

Enrollment in Pre-K in the region mostly mirrors enrollment by race and ethnicity in Kindergarten. The proportion of Pre-K students identifying as Latinx is 79% compared to 74% of Kindergarten students, while Pre-K students identifying as Asian is 6% compared to 17% of Kindergarten students.
