The OSD Family Advisory Board (formerly known as OSD Parent Advisory Council) is a community of families with students with disabilities who have a shared interest in collaborating with OSD to support students by enhancing special education support and services.
The Family Advisory Board meets monthly with OSD to discuss issues with students with disabilities and provide input on policy, training, and special education programming.
All Family Advisory Board meetings are held monthly and are open to the general public. Meetings are recorded. To access our registration form and be notified about upcoming FAB meetings, join our mailing list.
Join the 2025-2026 OSD Family Advisory Board
Apply today to become a board member for the Office for Students with Disabilities(OSD) Family Advisory Board (FAB). As a part of this community of families with students with disabilities, you will collaborate with OSD to help enhance special education support and services. Applications must be submitted by March 7, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. Elections will take place virtually on March 13, 2025 6:00-7:30 PM.

OSD Parent University
Parent University meetings are held monthly and are open to the general public. Meetings are recorded. These meetings provide empowering learning experiences to the parents/guardians of children with disabilities to help them support their child’s academic success, further their own education, and promote advocacy for their student with a disability.
Parent Universities offer parents, guardians, and community members access to learning experiences on a broad array of topics at CPS school sites across the city. These training sessions are offered at no cost. Past topics include an overview of the Individualized Education Program (IEP), executive functioning, compensatory education, and other special education related topics.
