Regional Gifted Centers provide an accelerated instructional program that places an emphasis on thinking, reasoning, problem solving and creativity. Admissions testing is required. The Regional Gifted exam is a reasoning skills test that taps into the student's ability to form abstract concepts and solve problems using novel information. Students are selected by exam score, with top scorers chosen first. Scores below 150 points (or a composite score of 100) are ineligible for selection. Students living in the attendance area are guaranteed a seat and do not need to submit an application. All students living outside the attendance area, including current Pre-K students, must submit an application. Applicants are selected by random computerized lottery.
