Regional Gifted Centers provide an accelerated instructional program that places an emphasis on thinking, reasoning, problem solving and creativity. Admissions testing is required. The Regional Gifted exam is a reasoning skills test that taps into the student's ability to form abstract concepts and solve problems using novel information. Students are selected by exam score, with top scorers chosen first. Scores below 150 points (or a composite score of 100) are ineligible for selection. Note: Coonley's Regional Gifted Center program is in the process of phasing out and it will reduce by one grade level each year. In the 2025-26 school year, it will serve only grade 8. Because the program is phasing out, no grade level is considered to be the program's entry year, and therefore tier will not be considered in admissions to this program.
