CHICAGO – The Chicago Board of Education approved the appointment of Dr. Marilou Rebolledo as the new chief of Network 2 schools on Thursday Dec. 12, 2024. In this pivotal role, Chief Rebolledo will be responsible for guiding approximately 13,300 students and managing 22 elementary schools on the city’s north side, ensuring they receive the quality education they deserve.

With nearly 30 years of experience in education, Chief Rebolledo began her journey as a teacher at the Chicago World Language Academy. Her trajectory has seen her excel as a school-wide coordinator, primary interventionist, assistant principal, and principal. Most recently, she served as Deputy Chief, where her leadership has been instrumental in advancing curriculum and instructional practices while cultivating inclusive learning environments.

Chief Rebolledo's credentials speak volumes; as a proud recipient of the Cahn Fellows for Distinguished Principals and a licensed leadership coach from the Berkeley Executive Coaching Institute, she embodies collaboration, empowerment, and an unwavering commitment to equity in education.


A first-generation college graduate, Chief Rebolledo earned her bachelor's degree in education from the University of Illinois Chicago in 1996. She then obtained a master's in educational administration from Governors State University in 2002 and a doctorate in education from Loyola University in 2019. Chief Rebolledo is also the proud mother of two daughters who are both products of CPS.
