Opportunities for Youth on Thursday, April 11

Dear CPS Parents and Families, 

As a reminder, tomorrow is a day of non-attendance for CPS high school students because of high school parent-teacher conference day. Thus, our District is partnering with the City of Chicago and other city agencies to offer a variety of programming for youth tomorrow. Please review the opportunities below. They are also organized on the city’s My Chi. My Future. website, which we recommend checking for potential additional opportunities beyond those listed below. 

Safe Haven Sites 

The District has Safe Haven sites open tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Safe Haven programming engages students in academic and recreational activities that foster the development of peer and mentor relationships. This programming is taking place at the following sites: 

• Life Changing Community Outreach in Austin (5900 W. North Ave.) 
• Rock of Salvation Sanctified Baptist Church in Austin (5350 W. Bloomingdale Ave.) 
• Rehoboth Apostolic Worship Center in Brainerd (9130 S. Vincennes Ave.)
• People's Church of God In Christ in East Garfield Park (3570 W. Fifth Ave.)
• New Life Outreach in Humboldt Park (3908 W. Hirsch St.)
• River City Community Development Center in Humboldt Park (3709 W. Grand Ave.)
• Jesus Word Center in North Lawndale (4224 W. 13th St.) 
• Sunrise Baptist Church in North Lawndale (1101 S. Central Park Ave.)
• Allen Metropolitan CME Church in Roseland (10946 S. Lowe Ave.)
• Corinthian Temple C.O.G.I.C. in West Garfield Park (230 N. Kolmar Ave.) 

Programming Through the Chicago Public Library and the Chicago Park District 

Chicago Public Library and Chicago Park District sites across Chicago are offering a variety of programming on Thursday, April 11.

Additional Mentoring Opportunities and Other Programming 

Other partner organizations are also offering teen mentoring opportunities tomorrow. 

• New Community Outreach in Bronzeville (3627 S. Cottage Grove Ave.) is offering a Safe Space Peace Circle from 4:30–6:30 p.m. 
• After School Matters in Back of the Yards (1900 W. 48th St.) is offering a movie night from 4–6 p.m.
• Alliance of Local Service Organizations in Humboldt Park (1440 N. Humboldt Blvd.) is hosting a game night at the Humboldt Park Fieldhouse from 4–8 p.m.
• Union League Boys and Girls Clubs in Humboldt Park (1214 N. Washtenaw Ave.) and the Lower West Side (2157 W. 19th St.) are offering programming from 2:30–8:30 p.m. 
• Guerreras F.C., an all-girls soccer program in Little Village (2800 S. Sacramento Ave.), is offering soccer programming from 6–8 p.m. 
• Champs Male Mentoring in North Lawndale (1512 S. Pulaski Rd.) is offering mentoring for young men of color from 5–6:30 p.m. 
• The South Side Help Center in Roseland (10420 S. Halsted St.) is offering a self-care kickback from 3–6 p.m.
