6.7 Distribution Piping Replacement

If there is evidence of active leaks or a number of pipe clamps are present on the domestic water distribution piping, a replacement of those sections of piping shall be considered. This is typically on schools that still have galvanized piping in use. The extent of the piping replacement will be confirmed by CPS and may require a complete replacement of the main distribution system. Connections from new piping to older piping may require dielectric fittings for corrosion protection.

Coordination must be made with Architect and Environmental Engineers for removal and replacement of walls, ceilings and other building elements for any piping replacement.

All new piping shall conform to Volume 3, Chapter 7.3 with regard to sizing, materials, insulation and suggested routing convention.
