Pool Renovations

  • Filter Replacement:
    • Filters shall be of the Pressure Sand type. The filter shall be a product of a manufacturer regularly engaged in the fabrication of water filtration equipment and who has a minimum of five (5) years of experience in manufacturing this type of filter.
    • Filter tanks shall be pressure sand filters horizontally oriented fiberglass construction suitable for 50 psi working pressure and hydrostatically tested to 75 psi.
    • The filter shall be NSF listed. Such listing shall be evidenced by the filter model number appearing in the current NSF Testing Laboratory Listing for swimming pool filters at the flow rate required for this project.
  • Pumps (Flooded Suction):
    • Circulation pumps shall be manufactured by Paco, Aurora or approved equal.
  • Pumps (Self Priming):
    • Circulation pumps shall be manufactured by Pentair Pool Products or approved equal.
  • Chemical Controllers:
    • Chemical controllers shall be manufactured by Aquasol, Prominent or approved equal
  • Heaters:
    • Heaters shall be manufactured by Raypak, Lochnivar or approved equal.

Aquatic Facility Evaluations

The scope of services to be provided will include an aquatic on-site visual evaluation of the following components:

  • Exposed pool piping and circulation systems including valves, gauges flow meters and supports in mechanical rooms.
  • Pool filtration system.
  • Circulation pump.
  • Pool structures and pool finish.
  • Perimeter pool gutter system.
  • Pool main drains.
  • Pool deck and deck drainage.
  • Determine compliance with:

    State of Illinois Administrative Code
    Title 77: Public Health
    Chapter 1: Department of Public Health (IDPH)
    Subchapter n: Recreational Facilities
    Part 820 Illinois Swimming Pool and Bathing Beach Code

  • Deliverables will include a report, with photos, outlining the Aquatic engineer’s observations regarding the condition and function of components defined in the aforementioned Scope of Services, including recommended prioritized repairs or replacements and budget estimates. The priority level assigned to a recommendation shall be based on the following:
Priority Time Frame Assessment Criteria
1 Immediate to 1 year Detrioraton of structure; health and human safety deficiencies; maintenance items that will reduce future maintenance; Illinois Swimming Pool and Bathing Beach code compliance.
2 1 year to 2 years Repairs that will be required in the near future; improvements that will reduce or eliminate future maintenance. Illinois Swimming Pool and Bathing Beach Code compliance.
3 1 year to 4 years Improvements that will improve the performance of the facility; improvements that will provide greater enjoyment for patrons.
