CPS Tiers

Some GoCPS programs use tiers in the selection process. Every address in the city of Chicago is assigned a tier from 1-4. Tiers are assigned based on the latest Census data. Here is a breakdown of how tiers are determined.

Non-Resident Tier Determination

If you don’t have a Chicago address at the time you apply, your tier will be determined based on the median family income for the census tract where you reside at the time of submitting your GoCPS application. If you live outside of the United States, your designated tier will be Tier 4.
