- Once the GoCPS application cycle opens, log in to access your GoCPS account or sign up to create a new account. The online GoCPS application is available in a number of languages.
- Families without computer access can get assistance with the application process from the staff at their child’s current CPS school or over the phone by calling the OAE Hotline.
- The application is also mobile friendly so families can complete the entire process on their smartphones.
Create a GoCPS Account
To create a GoCPS account you’ll need the following information: Name and date of birth of the applicant and a CPS ID number.

Students who attend a district-run school, charter school, or contract school already have a CPS identification number. It can be found on your child’s report card or through the Parent Portal.

Students without a CPS ID will receive one during the GoCPS application process.

Parents will need an email address or phone number to set up an account. If you are currently employed at CPS, or another school, please use a personal email address to complete an application for your child.
Only one GoCPS account will be authorized for a student. Parents/guardians can have their own accounts with their child linked to each account.
Please note:

The GoCPS application system allows for one parent/guardian to be listed as “primary,” but allows additional parents/guardians to be added to the account. Only the primary guardian will have the ability to edit the application. Any additional guardians will have view only access to the GoCPS application.

If there’s a dispute over which parent is the primary parent/guardian, or who should have primary access to the GoCPS application, CPS must receive a parental agreement which indicates the parent who has educational decision-making authority, or the parents must go to court to obtain this documentation.
