STEP 1:
Apply for paraprofessional license with Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE)

Order of Events/Timeline:

  • Obtain two official copies of your college transcripts (One for ISBE, one for CPS)
  • Complete ISBE application online ($100 is needed to process your application)

Average time to obtain a license from ISBE once all documents are submitted: 1-2 Weeks

STEP 2:
Apply Directly to CPS Paraprofessional Opportunities

Order of Events/Timeline:

  • Apply directly to SECA or TA position of your choosing via the CPS taleo job board
  • Apply to the SECA Pool and TA Pool listings on the CPS taleo job board that are shared with Principals every week
  • School administrators review applications and invite candidates to interview

STEP 3:
Upon Offer of School Position, Complete Onboarding Process

Order of Events/Timeline

  • Complete onboarding tasks within CPS taleo portal
  • Complete fingerprinting request
  • Complete TB test ($20)
  • Complete Drug test ($30)
  • Schedule virtual meeting with CPS staffing services office to go over I-9 eligibility documents

Average time to complete: 1-2 Weeks
