Important Dates and Details
- Application period is now open. Beginning October 20, 2025, applicants can submit their nomination materials to become an LSC candidate. Below, you'll find instructions for how to apply according to your candidate type.
- Application period closes at 3:00 p.m. on January 20, 2026: All application materials must be submitted by the deadline to be nominated as a candidate.
- Election Day is March 18, 2026: All LSC elections will take place on a single day.
- Election judges: CPS is also seeking 2,000 paid election judges to support the 2026 LSC election. Find instructions for applying below.
- Need help with your application? Parents and community members are invited to attend an application workshop for assistance with completing the nomination forms.

How to Apply
CPS is holding District-wide LSC elections, and we want to encourage you to run as a candidate for your school. Parents, community members, students, and staff are encouraged to apply to become LSC candidates. We are also seeking election judges to help oversee Election Day.

About Local School Councils
Comprised of parents, community, educational, and student members, LSCs serve as an important vehicle for participatory democracy, providing a wide variety of stakeholders an opportunity to make important decisions about how students in their communities will be educated.
