Sports Can Open Roads to Excellence:
The new CPS Elementary School Sports Program
Developing the values, skills, and abilities learned from participation in sports - sportsmanship, teamwork, problem-solving, self-confidence, and accountability - are essential in preparing our students for success in college, career, and community.
To ensure the opportunity to learn and practice these skills for as many CPS students as possible, CPS is launching a no-cut sports program for 5th through 8th graders beginning in January 2017. Harnessing the power of community and sport, this program provides a safe, structured, and positive learning experience for all interested students -- sharing the valuable lessons learned from sports participation.
Whether you’re a student, staff member, parent, community member, or organization,
there’s a place for you on our team. We hope you’ll join us!
All CPS 5th through 8th grade students at schools that choose to offer this program are invited and encouraged to participate. There will be no-cuts or tryouts to join teams and multiple teams will be created to accommodate student interest.
Through CPS SCORE!, all interested students will have the opportunity to be part of a team with caring coaches, develop their athletic skills through competitive play and learn valuable life lessons such as teamwork and sportsmanship.
Fall 2019 Key Dates
Coaches can be some of the most influential people in a young person’s life and have the opportunity to mold a student-athlete’s future. Each participating student-athlete will have a quality coach to lead and mentor them both on and off the court.
Teachers, school personnel, parents, guardians and community members are encouraged to coach an elementary school team. Teachers and school personnel will work directly with their schools to become coaches. Parents, guardians, family members and community members are encouraged to participate in the program through volunteerism.
Volunteers will take on important game day roles at Conference High Schools including, but not limited to, timekeeping, scorekeeping, and operations support.

Fall Registration is now open August 19th-November 23rd.
Please note: CPS SCORE! Program only offers sport opportunities to 5-8th grade students who are currently enrolled in CPS.
There are several ways individuals, sports organizations and the corporate community can support CPS SCORE!. CPS is offering several partnership opportunities including sponsoring specific components of the program citywide, donating equipment and/or uniforms or making a monetary contribution to fund coaching positions.
Partnering with CPS, the 3rd largest school district in the country, offers a unique opportunity for individuals and corporate entities looking to make a significant impact and expand their reach. Individual donations can be made to CPS SCORE! through the Children First Fund, the district’s 501(c)(3) used to fund programs that supplement educational opportunities. If you are interested in exploring a partnership opportunity such as a corporate sponsorship, please contact CPS Partnerships:

Chicago Public Schools announced that nearly 15,000 elementary students from nearly 200 schools participated in winter and spring sports during CPS SCORE’s inaugural year. The spring sports season will conclude with a culminating championship tournament for track & field, soccer, and floor hockey, featuring nearly 1,000 CPS students from across the city. CPS SCORE! is the official interscholastic athletics league for CPS elementary schools and the first-of-its-kind initiative in the nation. CPS SCORE! doesn’t cut any student or require tryouts so that it can include all students, regardless of their level of athletic ability.
