Throughout Chicago, CPS students are excelling both in the classroom and in competition. They embody the hard work, dedication and perseverance of teamwork that lead to life accomplishments. I congratulate members of the Jones College Prep High School cross-country team for their outstanding win in the Class 2A state meet this weekend. We are proud of the spirit and determination this team showed. I also want to congratulate Jones Principal Dr. Paul Powers, his administrative team, cross-country coach Andrew Adelmann and the Jones student body. You make us all proud.
- Team members include: Jamison Dale, Luke O'Connor, Kirby Lawson, Peter Schaible, Kyle Maloney, Benjamin Boswell and Armando Rodriguez.
- Jones is the first CPS high school to win a cross-country championship in the state meet since 1963.
- This is the first Jones team to win a state title in any sport.
- The meet took place in Peoria. Runners had to complete a 3-mile course.
