Raising the Bar: The Common Core State Standards

As an Early Adopter, your school has demonstrated shared leadership and effective instructional planning practices that will help facilitate your ability to implement the Common Core State Standards.

With your assistance, we will be able to identify exemplar student tasks aligned to the Common Core, exemplars of student work, as well as sample units of instruction. As a result, all CPS schools will be able to benefit from your work this school year.

This page will serve to host materials from the professional development sessions as well as other resources and supports. Please return for updates.

Kickoff Meeting

Grade/Course Alike Planning Days

Early Adopter teachers gathered from across schools, by grade level or course, from Kindergarten through grade 10, to better understand the Common Core standards and start defining ways we can rigorously engage students with them. Teachers are beginning the process of building performance assessments that will lead to unit and lesson planning, and instruction aligned to the Common Core.

Please see the following materials that can help you or your staff start to engage in unpacking the expectations of the standards and how you can assess student proficiency towards them:
