January 17, 2014

Families who are exploring their options for the 2014-2015 School Year may find it helpful to attend the New Schools Expo at Soldier Field on Saturday, January 25.

Representatives from over 100 CPS schools and departments will be on hand to answer questions and assist with student applications. These include:

  • Career and Technical Education Programs
  • Early College STEM Schools
  • Charter Schools
  • Office of Diverse Learners Supports and Services
  • Magnet, Gifted and IB Programs
  • Student Support and Engagement

“We all want the very best for our children, especially when it comes to their education,” said Phyllis Lockett, President and CEO of New School for Chicago, which will host the Expo in partnership with CPS and the Illinois Network of Charter Schools. “Navigating school choice options can be difficult and confusing. But it’s worth it, and it’s doable.”

Things to know when attending the Expo:

  • Expo hours are 9:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. on January 25
  • Admission and parking are free
  • Those traveling on the CTA may take a free trolley to Soldier Field from the Roosevelt stop
  • All exhibits are indoors
  • There is no tuition or application fee
  • School applications may be filled out on site
