With the school year at an end, summer meals become increasingly important. Federally funded school meals provided through the National School Breakfast and National School Lunch programs provide a key source of nutrition for students during the school year, but summer break can mean that children are left without adequate access to food.
LunchStop served approximately 82,000 meals in 2015. CPS' goal is to increase that number to 98,000 in summer 2016. Children need not be CPS students to receive free meals, however meal times do vary by site.
