Two weeks ago, Mather High School learned they would be the recipient of $10,000 from Code.org and DonorsChoose.org. The reason? Their ambitious plan to have all 1,200 of their students explore computer science through an Hour of Code.
Mather is one of over 160 schools across the Chicago Public School district that have signed up to have their students participate in the largest single day education event in the world. Starting on December 8th, over 60,000 CPS students will join millions of youth around the world in completing Hour of Code activities. Over 260 events have been registered across the city with partners such as Microsoft, the Chicago Public Libraries and the Museum of Science & Industry!
Last year, Chicago schools led the country in the number of students participating in Hour of Code. This year we want every school in the district to give their students the opportunity to explore computer science by hosting an Hour of Code. Are you interested in showcasing your students’ skills?
Hour of Code is for every grade level. Check out Hour of Code!
