Students to Explore Their High School Options

CPS prepares for Chicago School Fair

September 23, 2014

For students in 7th and 8th grade, there is no bigger decision than where to attend high school.

CPS wants every student to find a high school environment that challenges and motivates them while meeting their unique learning needs. A school that will help them identify and pursue their passions, all the time preparing them for success in college and beyond.

From Magnet and Selective Enrollment high schools to IB, STEM and CTE programs, the District offers a wide variety of academic options. In fact, the number of choices can be somewhat overwhelming.

To help students and their families explore all their high school options in one place, CPS will participate in the Chicago School Fair, an event sponsored by Parent Power Chicago.

The Chicago School Fair – an opportunity for students and their families to explore all CPS high schools under one roof.

Representatives from all high schools will be on hand to discuss

  • academic programs
  • extracurricular activities
  • admission requirements
  • application processes

Families will also have the opportunity to speak with CPS departments that can support their children’s learning. These will include:

Finally, to help families better understand their options, CPS will have school counselors and post-secondary coaches available throughout the fair.

Saturday, October 4 and Sunday, October 5 from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.

McCormick Place, Lakeside Center – 2301 S. Lake Shore Drive, Chicago
