A Great Start to the New School Year

CEO Brizard Thanks the CPS Community for Their Generous Donations

August 03, 2011

Last week, CPS partnered with Groupon’s G-Team on an offer that allowed people to purchase school supply kits for CPS students. In just three days, Chicagoans pulled together to pledge more than $15,000 to buy over 1,200 back to school kits! We have raised the most money of any G-Team campaign in any city ever—and we could not have done it without your help. I’d like to thank everyone who has pledged donations. Your support is appreciated on behalf of myself, my staff and, most importantly, our students and their families. These kits are a vital part of helping our students get ready for school on the first day.  I would also like to thank Groupon and the G-Team for their tireless efforts to make this deal available.

If you or anyone you know would like to continue to donate, kits are available for purchase for as little as $11 with the CPS promo code – FIRSTDAY2011.

We also are continuing to phone bank to ensure that everyone in Chicago is ready for the first day of classes.  Volunteers will receive on-site training from a CPS staff member and have a script and call sheet to follow. Volunteers can sign up for 2 hour shifts, at two different locations.
