Parents and students seeking information about elementary schools for the 2010-2011 school year should plan to attend the second annual Options for Knowledge Fair at Malcolm X College, 1900 W. Van Buren.
The event takes place at 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3. The fair will provide parents with information regarding magnet schools, magnet cluster schools, regional gifted centers, classical schools, academic centers, comprehensive gifted and specific aptitude programs, and international gifted programs.
The fair will also serve as the kick-off for the 2010-2011 application process, which runs from Oct. 1 - Dec.18. The Options for Knowledge program offers a wide range of initiatives for students, from programs that focus on literature and writing to the District's first Children's Engineering Program. The fair will also showcase schools with a back-to-basics approach to those designed for gifted students.
Please note: Applications will be available after Oct. 1, 2009. You can contact Academic Enhancement at (773) 553-2060 to find out when applications will be available.
