Preschool registration checklist 

Research shows that healthy students have better attendance and perform better in school, academically. Please remember that a healthy child is a healthy learner.

 

To enroll in a preschool program, children must be at least three years of age but not yet five, on or before September 1st of the current school year. Families must reside within the City of Chicago.

Register

The following types of preschool programs are offered:

  • Child Parent Center (CPC)
  • Community Partnership – Child Care Enhancement
  • Head Start Child Development
  • Preschool for All (formally State Pre-Kindergarten)
  • Tuition-Based Preschool (TBP)

 

 

Information about the preschool programs

  • Children usually attend a preschool program at their neighborhood school. Transportation (busing) is not provided.
  • Half-day and full-day programs are offered; the majority of programs are half-day.
  • Most programs are grant funded and have specific eligibility criteria determined by the funding agency, related to: income, at-risk factors, and residence in specific areas.
  • Most programs give priority for enrollment to four-year-olds (age four on or before September 1 of the current school year).
  • Tuition-Based Preschool (TBP) is not grant funded, but requires tuition payments for all children attending the program.
