About the School Support Center (SSC)

The School Support Center provides school principals with support and consultation in the area of school business operations including Procurement, Budget & Grants Management, Internal Accounts, Talent, and Safety & Security. We'll know we are successful when 1) principals and Network office staff can focus on instruction and 2) Central Office staff can focus on strategy and policy.

Our Primary Functions

The School Support Center serves as a single-point of contact for principals by providing excellent training, consultative support, and Premium Services in all areas related to school business operations. We represent the school customer through advocacy and in partnership with Central Office departments work to create efficiency, enabling principals to focus on instruction.

  • Communicators & Trainers
    As the liaison between schools and our central office partners, we help our partners communicate programs and initiatives; we also deliver training designed for school staff.

  • Experts & Advocates
    We are a single, cross-functional resource for schools to rely upon for questions, require expert assistance, or need an advocate, regarding policies and procedures of our central office partners.

  • Consultative Support
    We troubleshoot issues and provide consultative support. We focus primarily on resolving the immediate issue and provide guidance on understanding and navigating CPS policies and procedures for effective management of school business operations.

  • Performance Monitors
    We gather, assimilate and report data regarding school performance as it relates to the policies and procedures of our central office partners.

Financial Services: We provide consultative and problem solving support for inquiries related to budget, internal accounts, and procurement (e.g., reviewing your monthly internal accounts reports, coaching you on transactions, navigating through the ORACLE systems, and helping you understand your budget).

HR icon

Human Resources: We are staffed with Talent Generalists and Specialists who will support you by providing training and consultative support to Network Chiefs and principals in the following areas: workforce planning, talent calibration, HR systems and policies, candidate sourcing, transfers and performance evaluation and renewal process.

Safety & Security: Through evaluation, assessment, and professional development, we support schools to ensure that actionable Emergency Management Plans are in place at every school. We provide training to principals and school security staff on emergency planning and managing a safe school.

Premium Services: This shared service is an alternative for school principals to receive on-site consultation, training, and support in all areas of school financial operations. This includes budget monitoring and preparation, oversight and advisory support on financial compliance and reconciliation, and on-site training for principal and administrative team.
