Premium Services Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why should I have to pay for these kinds of services? The Board should fund them?
A: The SSC will continue to provide Basic Services to all schools at no direct cost. The Central Office departments (which include the SSC) have been making annual budget reductions to maximize the funding that can be allocated to schools. We do our best to price services based on their actual cost to us – primarily the cost of the employees serving you.
Q: Do I have to pay for my clerk to receive Payroll training?
A: No! The Department of Payroll Services will continue to offer web‐based training for payroll clerks at the beginning of and throughout the school year at no cost to your school. SSC "Premium Services" is designed for the Principal who seeks flexibility, customization, and careful attention to the needs of his or her particular school.
Q: I participated last year. Can I get the same representative to come back to my school?
A: We will make our best effort to honor requests to have your Specialist from the current year return to your school as your lead SSC representative, but we cannot make guarantees at this time.
Q: My school uses an external vendor to provide similar services. Why use the SSC?
A: Understand that the quality of external vendors varies widely. Also, the SSC is much more likely than an external vendor to be informed of any new policy and procedure regarding the support services you need and have the ability to connect you with the right people to find solutions when we cannot do it ourselves.
