Please share on of your proudest moments this year:
In my new role I am looking forward to students connecting lessons across curriculum, doing hands-on lessons, and learning how engineers think. I am looking forward to learning how to incorporate STEM into my lessons and how to push my students to be more critical, independent thinkers.
When did you join CPS and what was your first job?
I joined CPS in 2011. Before teaching, I worked for the United States Postal Service for 12 years.
What inspires or drives you every day?
What inspires me is my students. I work in a neighborhood that witnesses violence, gang activity, and negativity on a daily basis. I strive to teach my students that their environment does not predict their future. Seeing them enjoy learning keeps me going.
What is your favorite song that inspires you?
Encourage Yourself by Donald Lawrence
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a doctor as a kid growing up.
What is your favorite quote?
Our greatness weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.
