Freshman Connection takes place during the summer for all incoming freshmen. It offers incoming freshmen the opportunity to get prepared for high school during the month of July. It is made up of two parts: a morning session and an afternoon session.
The first part runs Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. The morning session takes place in a classroom setting to help students get a feel for their new high school’s layout. During this session, students will get to know their new teachers and counselors. The second part runs in the afternoons two days a week (varies by school) from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. During this afternoon session, students will participate in a variety of activities inside and outside of their new high school.
Here are additional programs designed to help your student prepare for high school.
Students who do not meet the minimum promotion criteria per Board Policy 07-0926-PO1 are eligible to participate.
Eighth-graders across the city can get a taste of the high schools they will be entering in the fall.
