Overview
The Having a Ball ballroom dance program concentrates on 5th grade students who learn the international style of ballroom dance. The program not only provides physical exercise, but also introduces a unique way of learning history, geography and culture.
Goals
- Develop confidence and self-esteem
- Cultivate important skills such as communication, teamwork, goal setting, leadership, posture, coordination and musicality
Program benefits
- 20-week curricular program dedicates three 50-minute periods to dance instruction with a professional dance teacher
- 50-minute period of classroom instruction involves fitness, nutrition, socio-emotional skills and cultural sensitivity
- Students learn the Cha-Cha, Waltz, Tango, Paso Doble, Jive and Rumba and have an opportunity to participate in a culminating program wide event as well as in in-school demonstrations
