16-inch softball is a game that can be played with your bare hands. One iteration of the game—which uses a ball that is actually soft (to prevent injuries)—was developed in Chicago in the 1930s.
Now several Chicago Public Schools across the District play the game every fall. Our teams are divided into 8 sections (North, South, West, and Central) with a red and blue section in each of the four divisions.
