The CPS Principal Eligibility process is designed to identify highly qualified, successful leaders for our schools. Through this process, current and aspiring principals must demonstrate evidence of leadership experience related to the CPS Principal Competencies, which can be found in the CPS Performance Standards for School Leaders Rubric with Critical Attributes. Applicants must be able to demonstrate school-wide leadership experiences that have resulted in positive student outcomes across multiple grade-levels and subject areas.
Click on the image below for a detailed description of each step of the process, and frequently asked questions about the process.
The information session workshop provides a 2 hour overview of the eligibility process. Prior to attending an information session workshop, aspiring principals are asked to review a powerpoint covering the logistics of the process and informational guidance related to the process.
Attendees will have an opportunity to participate in some individual and small group exercises designed to help them prepare for the Eligibility process. Participants should be prepared to talk about their own leadership experiences and engage in small group discussions.
If you are a CPS employee, please sign up for a session on Learning Hub in order to RSVP. If you are an external candidate, please email email@example.com in order to RSVP.
