The deadline is being extended to give parents and community members the fullest opportunity to become involved.

March 15, 2010

Chicago Public Schools is extending the deadline to file as a candidate or serve as a judge in Local School Council elections that are scheduled for Wednesday, April 21, 2010 and Thursday, April 22, 2010.

The new deadline is Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at 3 p.m.

Any qualified person interested in running as a candidate or serving as a judge in the election may obtain and file the necessary forms either at the Local School Council Relations, 125 S. Clark St., 5th Floor, or at the school where they would like to run as a candidate or serve as a judge.

The deadline is being extended to give parents and community members the fullest opportunity to become involved in their schools and to participate in democratic government at this most “grass-roots” level.

Local School Councils are composed of six parents, two community representatives, two teachers and the principal. High schools also have a student representative. There are approximately 600 LSCs throughout CPS.
