Chicago Public Schools cancels after-school programs, afternoon child care, sports

Additional information to be released as it becomes available

February 1, 2011

Out of an abundance of caution, Chicago Public Schools has cancelled after-school activities – including elementary and high school sports and driver’s education – for today and tomorrow due to the snowstorm. This includes third-shift preschool programs and CPS programs at Chicago Park District facilities.

The District continues to monitor the storm and its ramifications on school operations, and will release additional information once determinations are made. That information will be sent to media and posted on the web site.

We urge school communities, parents and students to continue to monitor these announcements on television, radio and the CPS web site.
