Press Release

School’s year of celebration kicks off Oct. 4 with fall family event

The fall family event is themed after the Columbian World’s Exposition in Chicago in 1893.

Louisa May Alcott Elementary School, 2625 N. Orchard St., is celebrating 115 years of educating Chicago’s children with “Celebrate 115,” a fall family event themed after the Columbian World’s Exposition in Chicago in 1893. It takes place from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4. 1893 is the same year the school opened under the name of the famous American novelist.

The event, hosted in partnership with the Museum of Science and Industry, allows students and families to explore activities from the World’s Fair. It also will include a show by Radio Disney, entitled “Chicago History Tour Express,” a concert by musical guest Seth Decker and the Missing Piece, face painting, a cupcake walk, a soccer clinic, food, drinks and more.

All-inclusive admission to “Celebrate 115” is $20 per child and $10 per adult. Guests also can gain entrance for $5 admission and purchase separate tickets for activities and food. For more information, visit www.friendsofalcott.org.
