Dear Friends and Colleagues,
First, I want to thank you for participating in our first community meeting in the Englewood/Gresham and Rock Island School Networks around the utilization crisis facing our District. Your feedback has been invaluable to me and I ask for your continued participation. Community feedback and recommendations from the independent Commission on School Utilization has already removed over 200 schools from consideration for closure.
This next round of meetings will allow all of our parents and community members to provide specific feedback on the schools in the Englewood/Gresham and Rock Island School Networks before we take next steps to address the utilization crisis facing our District.
Because we expect to have a larger than anticipated turnout of community participation, we are moving these meetings to larger venues. Updated information on both meetings is below.
Englewood/Gresham School Network
Monday, February 18 at 7 p.m. AFC Center (in the auditorium)
7859 S. Ashland Ave.
Rock Island School Network
Monday, February 25 at 7 p.m.
Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church
1257 West 111th Street
As we continue this hard work, your voice matters. I urge you to participate and lend your feedback. I need your feedback to make the most informed decisions possible before I make final recommendations to the Board of Education later in March.
