Process for Addressing Concerns with Charter or Contract Schools
The Office of New Schools recommends that parents or community members follow the procedures below to resolve concerns involving charter or contract schools:
1. Notify school leadership of the issue
Charter and contract schools are independently operated public schools. Parents, guardians, or community members should first attempt to address their concerns with the established leadership within the school. Teachers and administrative staff can help identify the appropriate school leader. You can find contact information for the school by utilizing the CPS school directory.
2. Contact the charter or contract school's board
Every charter and contract school has a school board. If the leaders within the school are unresponsive, parents, guardians, or community members should address their concerns with the school's board. Contact the school for a list of its board’s upcoming meetings.
