Phil Hampton

Family and Community Engagement

Phil Hampton is an Englewood native and a graduate of Simeon High School.  Hampton worked previously as a teacher at DuSable High School and as an administrator with the City of Chicago. He is married to Dana Hampton and they have three children: Devin, Brielle and Christian.

Q. What do you feel is your biggest charge and challenge in the work you are leading at CPS?

A. My biggest challenge is not having enough time each day to meet all of the demands.

Q. What are you known for professionally?

A. I’m known for being a respectful, honest, team leader.

Q. What one problem are you best at solving?

A. I’m good at working effectively during a crisis.  Past employers would say that I’m an excellent team leader.

Q. What are you most passionate about professionally?

A. I am passionate about serving the children and families of Chicago Public Schools.

Q. Have you received any awards?

A. I’ve won several awards from community and civic organizations, including a resolution from the Chicago Board of Education and recognition by Chicago State University as City Administrator - 2007.
