Norman R. Bobins 

Norman Bobins

Norman R. Bobins is Chairman Emeritus of LaSalle Bank Corporation. Mr. Bobins joined The Exchange National Bank of Chicago in April 1981 as senior executive vice president and chief lending officer. (The Exchange was acquired by LaSalle National Corporation, now LaSalle Bank Corporation, in 1990.) He came to The Exchange from American National Bank and Trust Company where he was senior vice president, holding various commercial lending positions over 14 years.                      

 

Mayor Richard M. Daley appointed Mr. Bobins to the Chicago Board of Education in 1995.

 

Active in numerous civic organizations, Mr. Bobins was honored with the American Jewish Committee’s 1992 Human Rights Medallion, the 1997 Keshet Rainbow Award, the Boys & Girls Clubs 2002 Chairman’s Award, the 2003 University of Chicago Graduate School of Business’ Distinguished Corporate Alumnus Award, the 2005 Harvard Business School Club of Chicago Business Statesman Award, and in 2007, the Order of Lincoln which is the Academy of Illinois’ highest award.

                                      

Mr. Bobins is the former Chairman of the Board at the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce. He continues to serve as a member of the Board of Education of the City of Chicago, where he was re-appointed in June 2006 to a fourth four-year term. He is a member of the board of trustees of WTTW Communications, Inc., The Field Museum, The Art Institute of Chicago, and is Chairman Emeritus of the Illinois Business Roundtable. In 2008, he was appointed to the United States Holocaust Memorial Council by President George W. Bush.

                                                          

His corporate involvement includes the board of directors of Global Hyatt Corporation, Nicor, Inc., AAR CORP, a directorship at RREEF America REIT II, Inc. as well as serving as a director of Metal Management, Inc. He is Non-Executive Chairman of the board of Transco, Inc.                  

 

Mr. Bobins earned his BS from the University of Wisconsin in 1964 and his MBA from the University of Chicago in 1967. He and his wife, Virginia, reside in Chicago.
